Essence of an Indian Woman
She’s a woman of today, liberated and bold
Her beauty enhanced, not by diamonds or gold
Her pride lies not in bits of cloth or metal she must own
A wholesome personality is what she would adorn
With a mind that’s open and a heart that’s warm
She makes her markwith her skills and art
That’s what is hers forever
Woman--that’s how she makes herself known!
Our paradigms have changed
A woman was helpless and dependent in the days of old
Now’s woman is a mother, a homemaker, a wife and also a breadwinner
all into one ‘role-ed’
Only when this woman’s presence fills the house can a man start a ‘family’ and make ‘a home’
So why must the ways of the world stay the same?
Why don’t her husband and children bear her name?
For years her parents have carefully nurtured
a loving and tender soul
Ensuring a heart ever so soft
but a demeanor so tough and bold
Yet when they get her married
They are willing to bend low
God bless every Indian woman’s parents
Who agree to give away forever, their precious daughter so!
